Decorative Recessed Light Options
Why Choose Beaux-Arts Classic Products Decorative Recessed Light Options?
Are you interested in transforming your recessed lighting to become a room’s centerpiece or just want to improve the appearance of your recessed lights? Beaux-Arts Classic Products, sells a variety of decorative options for recessed lighting trims. Our “classic” designed recessed light trims compliment all decor styles. Recessed lighting without a decorative trim can look unattractive and industrial. After all, a light source calls attention to itself. If there is a decorative option that is easy to install and compliments your decor, those are great reasons to check it out. Decorative trims can completely change the look and feel of a room. However, you won’t find such options at your local “big box” store or specialty lighting stores. There are so many different sizes of recessed lights, and types of recessed lights that stocking sizes for all the variables is not easy. So whether you are interested in new construction where you are purchasing the recessed lighting fixture or if you have existing recessed lights there are decorative options available.
Decorative Recessed Light Trims
The decorative options begin with our thoughtfully crafted decorative recessed light trims. They add contrast, style, and elegance to any room. The historic trims are crafted to preserve the integrity of the hand carved originals. They are cast in resin, which retains the original details of the carvings. We also offer a multitude of sizes: 4-5/16”, 4-⅝”, 5”, 6”, 6-⅜”, 6-¾”, 7-¼”, 7-½” and 7-¾”, along with other specialty options that fit over LED retrofit baffle trims and wafer slim LEDs. The trims come in 13 beautiful finishes.
Recessed Lighting has traditionally been a great way to add practical light to a room since it offers task and ambient lighting. However, modern designs, coupled with the technology associated with LEDs, have been a true game changer. Now, recessed lighting can also be used to augment a room’s beauty, highlight an area, or create a specific mood. Adding a decorative trim to recessed lighting can kick it up to an entirely different level of style.
Best of all, you don’t need to hire an electrician or contractor to install any of our recessed lighting products. All of our decorative recessed light trim options are easy to install.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ADDING DECORATIVE RECESSED LIGHTING TRIMS
The first thing you need to do is determine what size trim you need for your particular recessed lights. Beaux-Arts offers decorative trims for all sizes of recessed lights. The size is determined by the Light Source used by your recessed light. See FAQ Recessed Lighting Products for more details.
You will order your decorative recessed lighting from the Category represented by your Light Source. Below are Links to the Light Source Categories:
An LED Retrofit is a nifty combination of an LED Light and a Baffle with a fixed rim all in one piece. The name implies a conversion of an old recessed light canister with a new LED light source. So, if you have already converted your old recessed light canisters to LED Retrofits, then you simply have to measure the outside of the rim on the LED Retrofit. The typical outside diameter measurements of LED Retrofits are 5”, 6-3/4”, 7-1/4” , 7-1/2” and 7-3/4”. We make all those sizes and more.
Incandescent and LED Light Bulbs
If you use light bulbs, the type and size of your recessed light canister is the key issue. Most 4” and 5” recessed light baffles have fixed rims. Most 6” recessed light baffles have removable rims. If your baffle has a removal rim, measure the outside of the baffle without the rim. If the rim around the baffle is fixed, measure the outside of the baffle rim.

LED Wafer Thin Downlights and Flush Mounted Downlight – LED Wafer Thin Downlights are a new LED that do not use a canister or a baffle. Now it is possible to install recessed lights without a canister. LED lights do not produce heat as a by-product, since they are powered by a low voltage transformer. Therefore, LED lights don’t need a big canister anymore. Those canisters acted as heat sinks, made to prevent insulation from catching fire, from the super hot incandescent flood lamps. So the new wafer thin LEDs are quick and easy to install. Just cut the appropriate size hole in the drywall. Don’t worry where the ceiling joist are since LED wafers are actually thinner than the 1/2″ drywall on the ceiling. They can be installed right under a joist. Flush Mounted Down Lights are also thin, usually under 1″ thick. These flush mounts come in a variety of sizes from 4”, 5” 6”, 6-3/4”, 7-1/4”, 7-1/2” and 7-3/4”.
We have Decorative Recessed Light Trims to fit all three of these different light sources. Each light source determines the actual size of the decorative trim you will need to fit your existing hardware.
- Measure the diameter of your existing recessed light canister.
- For new construction choose from your size and type of recessed lighting.

Where to Use Recessed Chandeliers
It is difficult to capture the effectiveness of using recessed light trims with crystals in a large setting, but they are great used in conjunction with a chandelier. We can match the crystals as we did in this installation. Pictured are our Victorian recessed light trims with crystals that match the chandelier; 1-1/2″ clear U-drop crystals and clear 8mm faceted crystal chain. They also compliment a Dining Room Chandelier as ambient lighting around the perimeter of the dining room.

Recessed chandeliers are a great choice for a Master Bath or Powder Room. They provide task lighting for applying makeup and performing grooming. Not only are they an excellent light source but they offer a new look for bathroom lighting which is not the sterile lighting for today’s modern lighting approach of bare bulbs and not quite as formal as a small chandelier or sconce. Since they are mounted on the ceiling they provide light, classic beauty and an uncluttered look.
