“Historic Preservation in the US is an endeavor that seeks to preserve, conserve and protect buildings, objects, landscapes or other artifacts of historical significance. It is a philosophical concept that became popular in the twentieth century, which maintains that cities as products of centuries’ development should be obligated to protect their patrimonial legacy. The term refers specifically to the preservation of the built environment, and not to preservation of, for example, primeval forests or wilderness.” Wikepedia.
“What parts of our past can we preserve for the future?” Through historic preservation, we look at history in different ways, ask different questions of the past, and learn new things about our history and ourselves. Historic preservation is an important way for us to transmit our understanding of the past to future generations.
Our Arts and Crafts Decorative grilles were originally made in New York State in approximately 1870-1929. They are the most outstanding return air grilles ever made in the USA and we believe our work to manufacture this timeless design stands the test of time as a classic. Andrew Carnegie placed them in most of the Carnegie Libraries from 1883 to 1929. We have been manufacturing these historical reproduction supply vents in the USA since 2006, using the highest quality urethane resin which is strong, dimensionally stable and heat resistant to capture the exact details of the originals. Please note our exact design eliminated the damper slot and screwholes to attach a damper, plus some of the unnecessary rows of bars. The original Arts and Crafts only came in 8 sizes. We offer them in over 70 sizes.
Beaux-Arts Classic Products is a proud USA manufacturer, that creates Functional Works of Art to replace what we refer to as “everyday eyesores” that are in our homes, businesses and public spaces. For the most part these everyday eyesores are the result of modern mass manufacturing which provides industrial white louvered grilles as the only options for our heating and air conditioning systems.
Our products can be used for historic preservation since they meet U.S. Government’s General Services Administration Code #1501003S Standards for Historic Preservation Guidelines. Our collection of decorative grilles are intended for forced air heating and air conditioning systems as either return air grilles or supply vents. We have provided historic reproduction decorative grilles to some interesting projects.

The Chelsea Hotel – Quenn Ann Revival Building – is a hotel in Manhattan, New York City, built between 1883 and 1885.
“The story of the renovation of this 19th-century Victorian Gothic landmark (and the former home of Mark Twain, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith and countless other writers and musicians) is one of developers with lofty ambitions that ran headlong into a classic New York predicament: when scorned tenants organize, they can grind a multimillion-dollar project to a halt. And the tenants of the Chelsea Hotel, most of whom have lived there for decades, know how to put up a good fight.” New York Times
